No. 10 Notre Dame at Texas? No. 18 Georgia vs. No. 22 North Carolina. No. 5 LSU vs. Wisconsin at Lambeau Field. And thats just to name a few. Lots of interesting matchups from which to choose, but the best looks as if it will be the last.No. 11 Mississippi faces No. 4 Florida State in Orlando, Florida, on Monday night. The Rebels are in a bit of a reload season after losing three first-round draft picks that were the heart of a team coming off two straight New Years Six bowl appearances. There is still plenty for the Ole Miss fans to be excited about, starting with Chad Kelly, one of the best quarterbacks in the country, throwing to a bunch of speedy receivers.Florida State seems set everywhere but quarterback. Redshirt Deondre Francois takes over a team with national title hopes. Dalvin Cook is one of the best running backs in the country and safety Derwin James is a versatile playmaker on defense.Add in some SEC-ACC bragging rights and you have the game of the week.HEISMAN WATCHNo player could do more for his Heisman Trophy hopes in Week 1 than Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. The 15th-ranked Cougars open against No. 3 Oklahoma at NRG Stadium, the home of the Houston Texans. If Ward, who passed for 2,828 yards, ran for 1,108 yards and accounted for 38 touchdowns last season, has a big game and leads the Cougars to an upset, he can vault himself into the heart of a crowded field of Heisman contenders that includes three of the top four vote-getters from last season. If Ward and the Cougars play a clunker, you can probably scratch him off the list of possible winners.NUMBERS TO KNOW-Longest current season-opener winning streaks:Florida -- 26. The Gators play UMass at the Swamp.USC -- 17. The Trojans face Alabama in Arlington, Texas.Ohio State -- 16. The Buckeyes host Bowling Green.-Nebraska coach Mike Riley and Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall each enter the season with 99 victories. The Cornhuskers open the season at home against Fresno State. Mendenhalls first game as Cavaliers coach is home against FCS power Richmond.(SLIGHTLY) OFF THE RADARBYU opens against Arizona at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, marking the return of Cougars QB Taysom Hill for a sixth season of eligibility.Hill lost most of each of the last two seasons to injuries. He also did a Mormon mission at the start of his career. So now at 26, a quarterback who was in the same recruiting class in 2009 as Matt Barkley, gets one more chance to lead the Cougars. When healthy Hill drew comparisons to Tim Tebow. He won a tight competition with Tanner Mangum to win the starting job.The Arizona game is the first in a string of high-level opponents for the independent BYU. Also on the schedule: Utah, UCLA, West Virginia, Toledo, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Boise State and Cincinnati. All of those teams played in bowl games last season. All but Cincinnati spent at least one week ranked.Regardless of how well the Cougars do, a full season from Hill will be a victory.COACH IN NEED OF A WINIts never too early to start the hot seat watch.Texas A&Ms Kevin Sumlin and Auburns Gus Malzahn enter the season with pressure to change the trajectory of their programs. Both start with huge home openers. The Aggies take on No. 16 UCLA and Auburn host No. 2 Clemson and Deshaun Watson.Big challenges and great opportunities to show things are headed in the right direction. Also, a chance to start 0-1 in front of the home crowd. For Auburn, a solid showing against a team that pushed Alabama in the championship game could make a loss in the opener palatable to Malzahns critics. Thats not necessarily the case for Sumlin. UCLA has the ranking and the star quarterback in Josh Rosen, but the Aggies are favored at home by a couple points. It is a winnable game. The Aggies are 1-6 at Kyle Field against ranked teams under Sumlin. Fall to 1-7, with an always tough slate of SEC West games still ahead, and things almost immediately get uncomfortable in College Station, Texas.---Follow Ralph D. LONDON -- A week after having the best performance of his career, Case Keenum had one of his worst. That doesnt mean the Los Angeles Rams are ready to change starting quarterbacks just yet.Keenum threw four interceptions, including one in the end zone with 42 seconds remaining, in the Rams 17-10 loss to the New York Giants at Twickenham Stadium on Sunday. And though Keenum was tabbed as the Rams starting quarterback over Jared Goff, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, coach Jeff Fisher said after the game that Goff will remain on the bench. The quarterback is not the reason, by the way, that we lost (the last) three games, Fisher said. Im staying with Case. His first interception, a high throw in the second quarter that deflected off the hands of wide receiver Tavon Austin, was recovered by Giants strong safety Landon Collins and returned 44 yards for a touchdown. The other three occurred on the final three drives of the game. One throw was tipped by Giants linebacker Keenan Robinson before being caught by Collins, and another was intended for Austin in the end zone when it was undercut by cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.The fourth was grabbed by Rodgers-Cromartie when, after changing the call on third-and-10 from the Giants 15-yard line with 50 seconds remaining, Keenum threw too far inside Brian Quick, the intended receiver.Until that point, the Rams (3-4) drove 65 yards in 12 plays over 2:21 and seemed on the verge of tying the score. What I saw pre-snap was they were going to pressure us, said Keenum, who completed 32 of a career-high 53 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown. I was just trying to get Brian a chance in the back of the end zone. I didnt see it well enough. We werent on the same page.Keenum threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-28 loss to the Detroit Lions a week earlier and set a franchise record with 19 consecutive completions -- including a 18-for-18 mark in the third quarter. He seemed to carry that momentum into the game against the Giants (4-3), completing nine of his 10 first-quarter attempts, as the Rams gained 122 yards and took a 10-0 lead. They gained only 106 yards over the next two quarters, though, and punted on their seven possessions following Collins firrst interception -- a streak that was broken by his second.dddddddddddd.The Giants defense, ranked 22nd against the pass entering Sunday, had forced only three turnovers, two of which were interceptions by cornerback Janoris Jenkins. Its a momentum-changer, Collins said. When you get an interception, it takes a lot out of the defense on the other side of the field and takes a lot out of that offense because thats where the trust issues come in.Keenum has thrown for eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. He had an interception returned for a go-ahead touchdown by the Buffalo Bills two weeks ago and threw one that squandered the Rams final drive against the Lions.Take a look at the tape, Fisher said. See whos responsible for the interceptions. ... Ill make changes at receiver before I make changes with the quarterback. The Rams selected Keenum as their starter early in training camp despite Goffs presence. He ascended to that role last November, when the Rams benched Nick Foles, and had seemingly grown more comfortable in the offense during a recent three-game winning streak.Goff, who completed only 44.9 percent of his passes over all four preseason games, has gotten only limited work as Keenums backup. The Rams also have Sean Mannion on their roster.Jareds going to play when we feel Jareds ready, you know? Fisher said. Had we won this game, you wouldnt have been asking about Jared, which I understand. We didnt lose this game because of quarterback play today. We lost because of other positions. The Rams enter the bye week with a three-game losing streak, and a season that seemed to hold promise after wins over the NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals appears much more unsteady. That layoff gives Fisher ample opportunity to reconsider his stance -- but also could give him a chance to diagnose other issues plaguing the Rams offense. Were going to recharge our batteries, Keenum said. Were going to hit the ground running next week. I think were all ready to roll off a few games in our favor.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
