Officine Panerai and Mike Horn reunite – unveiling the Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days GMT “Pole2Pole”
Born for adventure. Officine Panerai's history stems from the needs of the Italian Navy, which it has supplied for years with precision instruments and watches. Designing tool watches – rugged and durable products capable of withstanding the most extreme conditions – is the brand's raison d'être. This tenacity makes Officine Panerai the perfect partner for Mike Horn's expeditions. Following the Arktos (2002-2004), the Arctic Winter Expedition (2006), and the Pangea (2008-2012), Officine Panerai will become a partner of the Pole2Pole expedition. In this new venture, the Swiss-South African explorer will wear a new special edition Panerai watch, the PAM00719, as he circumnavigates the globe from the South Pole to the North Pole.
The PAM00719 features a 47mm brushed titanium case, a rotating bezel, and Panerai's signature crown guard. The watch is powered by the Panerai Manufacture P.9001 automatic movement, a twin-barrel movement with a three-day power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
The hours, minutes, small seconds, and date display all feature a GMT function, and the home time is indicated by a yellow central hand. All settings are made via the crown, requiring no adjustment, preserving the clean curves of the Luminor case. An intelligent seconds reset mechanism resets the seconds hand, perfectly synchronizing the watch with a reference time signal.
The hands, dial, and bezel are all coated with luminescent material for exceptional legibility. The blue dial of this watch bears the inscription "Pole2Pole," and the caseback is engraved with Mike Horn's signature and the expedition's emblem (a polar bear and a penguin, symbolizing the two poles).
The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Power Reserve Dual Time Automatic Titanium "Pole2Pole" is presented on a black structured rubber strap secured with a large trapezoidal titanium pin buckle.
