Smackdowns Superstars headed to California on Sunday night for the No Mercy pay-per-view. But who flourished at the blue-brand event and who had an evening to forget? Read on as we look at the winners and losers… Watch WWE No Mercy Find out how to book a pay-per-view repeat WINNERS Dolph ZigglerHeading into the nights Intercontinental Title encounter, Ziggler knew that if he lost to The Miz, his time as an active member of the WWE roster was over. It looked over more than once during the match, most memorably before he somehow placed his foot on the bottom rope to curtail the pin at the last moment after he had been clocked by a Skull-Crushing Finale. Dolph Zigglers WWE career is alive and kicking Yet, the Clevelander dealt with interference from Mizs wife, Maryse, and his former Spirit Squad allies, Kenny and Mikey, to pinch the white belt for the fifth time. The reactions of Ziggler and the crowd following his victory showed how neither were ready for the Show-Off to hang up his boots. Props to The Miz, too, for the part he played in a quite pulsating and highly emotional dust-up.AJ StylesBy hook or by crook - that appears to be the AJ Styles way these days. Having won the WWE World Title from Dean Ambrose at Backlash with a low-bow and retained it against The Lunatic Fringe on an episode of Smackdown when John Cena proved too much of a distraction for Ambrose, The Phenomenal One triumphed in controversial circumstances again at No Mercy to remain champ. AJ Styles remains WWE World Champion Styles survived tapping out during his Triple Threat match with Cena and Ambrose when the referee could not decide who had made the title holder submit, before he whacked Cena with a chair - legal under Triple Threat rules but slightly nefarious all the same - to keep his gold. Styles contentious triumph also prevented Cena from equalling Ric Flair on 16 world titles - for now at least.Bray WyattAs captivating as he is on the microphone, wins of magnitude have been hard for Wyatt to obtain during his WWE career. He notched a significant triumph in Sacramento, though, when he knocked off 12-time world champion Randy Orton in the main event. That victory will be forever etched into the record books, albeit that it may never have come to pass if not for Luke Harper. Wyatt received a little help from his friend Harper, one of the most talented and underrated wrestlers in WWE, had been sidelined since March with a severe knee injury but returned during the closing stages of Sundays show to shock Orton and allow Wyatt to pin him. With Harper now back by his side, Wyatt becomes an even more fearsome proposition for the Smackdown locker room. Perhaps now he can finally win a maiden main-roster title.LOSERSThe UsosStyles personality shift has helped him become world champion but The Usos hasnt quite had the same impact. As Jimmy and Jey explained during a sit-down interview with Michael Cole last week, their decision to ditch the vibrant clothing and show little respect to their opponents has got people talking about them - but it hasnt yielded results. The Usos are falling short in their Tag Title pursuits Twice they have fought Heath Slater and Rhyno for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles and twice they have come up short, firstly at Backlash and now at No Mercy, with Jey ruthlessly Gored by The Man Beast. Usually when WWE tag teams suffer a run of defeats, a split becomes a distinct possibility, so it will be interesting to see whether the Samoan-American twins remain as tight as they were when they were wearing gold.Alexa Bliss and CarmellaBliss and Carmella have made great strides since swapping NXT for the bright blue lights of Smackdown Live but were outgunned by more experienced foes this weekend. Bliss, incredibly vexed at Becky Lynchs injury leaving her unable to fight for the Womens Title, was pinned by Naomi during an impromptu match. Alexa Bliss endured a frustrating night Carmella, meanwhile, slipped up against former two-time Divas Champion Nikki Bella despite seemingly having her rival beat when she locked in the Code of Silence. Bliss and Carmella will now know the big leagues can be unforgiving, something that should stand Bliss in good stead when she finally wrestles Lynch for her championship in Glasgow on November 8.The MizAs mentioned in the Ziggler section, The Miz can be proud of his No Mercy display but hell no doubt be distraught with the end result, as he saw his hopes of extending his Intercontinental Title reign beyond 200 days came to a grinding halt. The Awesome Ones fifth stint with the strap ended at 188 days, rendering him unable to match the likes of Orton, Shawn Michaels and The Ultimate Warrior in the double hundred club. Ziggler hits The Miz with a Zig Zag en route to his win Seeing how confidence has never been an issue for Miz, he would probably have set his sights on bettering the record Intercontinental Title reign, Honky Tonk Mans 454 days. Now hell be intent on stopping Ziggler overhaul his overall number of days with the Intercontinental Title - Mizs tally is 303, Ziggler is now sat in the mid-270s.WWE No Mercy is repeated on Sky Sports Box Office (channel 491) BUT NOT Sky Sports HD Box Office (channel 492) between 10am on Monday, October 10 and 10pm on Thursday, October 13. He had the option of shooting or passing to Trevor Cooney. The Syracuse freshman guard decided to shoot. It was the right decision. Ennis made the 35-footer at the buzzer and No. 1 Syracuse remained unbeaten with a 58-56 victory over No. 25 Pitt on Wednesday night. "I saw someone ran over to Trevor and I just had to beat one guy," Ennis said. "I knew they werent going to let Trevor get it. I just had to get some space. I knew I could get open for a second." Syracuse (24-0, 11-0 ACC) and Wichita State are the lone undefeated teams in Division I. Talib Zanna, who led Pitt (20-5, 8-4) with 16 points and 14 rebounds, hit two free throws after being fouled on a layup attempt to give the Panthers a 56-55 lead before Ennis winner. Pitt coach Jamie Dixon called a timeout after the free throws to set his defence. That also allowed Syracuse to draw up a play designed for its fearless freshman. "We guarded it about as well as you could guard it," Dixon said. "He made about a 40-footer. We did what we were supposed to do. If we had to do it again. ... We did the right things. "They were going to get a shot off. He made it, and he made a tough one. We knew hed have the ball and would be the guy. We had two guys on him. He hit the shot. Our guys defended, and he hit a shot." It was Pitts first loss at home to a top-five team in the 12-year history of the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers (20-5, 8-4) had been 9-0 against top-five teams and 13-1 against teaams ranked in the top 10.dddddddddddd. C.J. Fair led Syracuse with 14 points. Pitt had a 54-48 lead with less than 2 minutes remaining, but Fair made a 3-pointer with 1:40 to go. He then hit a jumper to make it 54-53 with 51 seconds left. After Pitt missed on the other end, Ennis made two free throws with 10 seconds left to give the Orange the lead. "C.J. hadnt hit a 3 all game. He hadnt hit the rim, and he makes a 3 and then he hits a pretty tough pull-up to give us a chance," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. "Those were big plays and you have to be a special player to make those plays." Pitt led 27-24 at halftime and built its lead to nine in the early stages of the second half when Lamar Patterson made a 3-pointer to make it 37-28 with 15 minutes remaining. Syracuse stormed back with a 17-8 run and tied it on Trevor Cooneys 3-pointer with 6:53 to go, but Pitt regained control after Zanna converted a three-point play and freshman Jamel Artis sank two free throws for a 50-45 lead. But it was all Syracuse after that. Pitts only points in the final 1:59 came from Zannas two free throws, and the Panthers were outscored 10-3 in the final 1:59. Syracuse had to play without backup centre Baye Moussa Keita, who sat out with a sprained knee. That forced sophomore forward Jerami Grant into duty as the backup centre behind Rakeem Christmas. Pitt had injury issues of its own. Senior forward and leading scorer Lamar Patterson had the thumb on his right hand wrapped for a second consecutive game. After going 1 for 9 in his previous outing against Virginia Tech, Patterson scored 13 points.
